Speeding driver hid in car trunk-Nice idea

HIGHLAND BEACH, Fla., May 7 (UPI) -- Police in Florida said an officer pulled over a speeding car and was baffled to find the vehicle empty until the driver was discovered hiding in the trunk. Highland Beach Police said an officer pulled the red Mitsubishi over
for speeding Sunday and searched the area when he saw there was no one inside, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported Tuesday. Police saw the vehicle take off speeding again and it was pulled over a second time. They said the vehicle again appeared to be empty. However, after about 30 minutes, an officer spotted Maximilian Andrew Schroeder, 28, of West Boca, hiding in the trunk. Schroeder was charged with fleeing and marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession. He was released Sunday from the Palm Beach County Jail on $3,000 bail.

Boys, 6 and 7, steal car for joy ride

NYKOBING FALSTER, Denmark, May 7 (UPI) -- Police in Denmark said two young boys, ages 6 and 7, stole a car from the care facility where they live and went for a joyride. Investigators said the boys, from Nykobing Falster, escaped the 24-hour care facility through a window and stole the keys to a Toyota Aygo that belongs to the facility, The Copenhagen Post reported Tuesday. Henrik Karlsen, a spokesperson for Southern Zealand and Lolland-Falster Police, said the boys made it about 1.8 miles before they were stopped by a man who called police. Karlsen said the boys were careful drivers. "The boys told the police officer that they stopped every time there was a red light," Karlsen said. He said the boys were likely aided in the stunt by the fact that one of them is tall for his age. Karlsen said no official punishments are being planned for the boys.

Man shocked to find cervical cancer on restaurant menu

A man was shocked to discover a restaurant menu contained the option for cervical cancer. Owen Durray, 32, from Kent was on holiday in Poland when he spotted the error at Bee Jays restaurant in Poznan. He was looking at the fish dishes when he made the unpleasant discovery. ‘I wanted something fishy but I didn’t expect this,’ he said. ‘No one I know has had cervical cancer but I can imagine that if it had been seen by somebody else they might have been well upset. ‘As it was I quickly lost my appetite, the meaning doesn’t exactly encourage you to order anything does it?’

The description for the dish said ‘cervical cancer served on beetroot carpaccio’ – a mistake the restaurant has since apologised for. A Bee Jays spokesman added: ‘This was a mistake in translation.
‘The food item was for crayfish and somehow that got turned into cervical cancer. We will be having a word with our translator. ‘We apologise if we have offended anyone.’

Cure for grey hair is on its way say scientists

Doctors could soon have a cure for grey hair after experts found out why we lose colour. While the likes of Sir Tom Jones may look distinguished with their manes of silver, millions would be able to ditch the dye thanks to a topical treatment activated by the sun’s rays. Biologist Gerald Weissmann said: “Numerous remedies have been concocted to hide grey hair but now, for the first time, an actual treatment that gets to the root of the problem has been developed.”

Experts found people go grey due to a buildup of hydrogen peroxide in the hair follicle, causing it to bleach itself from the inside out. The effect can be reversed by applying a compound called PC-KUB. The team, including scientists from the University of Bradford, also found the treatment would work on the skin condition vitiligo, which causes loss of pigmentation. King of Pop Michael Jackson blamed the condition for his pale skin colour in 1993. Professor Weissmann, editor in chief of journal FASEB, said it was “exciting news”. He added: "This condition, while technically cosmetic, can have serious socio-emotional effects on people. "An effective treatment for this condition has the potential to radically improve lives.” Professor Karin Schallreuter led the study of 2,411 patients. She said: “Sudden loss of skin and hair colour can affect individuals in many ways. "The improvement of quality of life after total and even partially successful repigmentation has been documented.” Schallreuter did not say when the treatment would become available for regular consumers to purchase.

Teacher Too sexy for her job

Olivia Sprauer Teacher

She posed in clothing you might see on any beach in America, but this ex-teacher said her bikini photos got her banned from for good from her classroom. A former Martin County High School English teacher in Florida said she lost her job after one of her racy modeling photos came to the attention of the school's principal. Olivia Sprauer, 26, who models under the name Victoria James, told The Huffington Post she knew she took a risk when she decided to pose for bikini photos beginning in February, but she decides she wanted to chance it.

Lots of teachers get fired or asked to resign for the same things I did," Sprauer told HuffPost. "I knew I didn't want to come back next year and I knew I wanted to go to grad school so I decided if I made it to the end of the year I would be happy." Unfortunately for Sprauer, who started teaching in 2011, she didn't quite make it. On April 29, she was called into principal Alfred Fabrizio's office. Sprauer said the principal showed her one of her modeling photos and, after she confirmed the picture was of her, she was asked to resign that day. "I felt like it would have been nice for my students to finish out the year with me," Sprauer said. "They trusted me and they made me happy so that aspect of it was sad." The Martin County School District would only confirm that Sprauer, who taught freshmen and juniors, is no longer employed at the school. A spokesperson for the district declined to comment further because it was a "personnel matter." Sprauer said she did nothing wrong. "I don't make pornography. I don't open my legs on camera. I take swimsuit glamour style photography," Sprauer said. Sprauer said she still plans on attending her student's graduation. "They are happy for me," Sprauer said. "They know I love them."
