Hospital surgeries were cancelled, phone service was knocked out and technicians were sent scrambling on Quebec's north shore after a beaver dam collapsed, chopping a fibre-

optic cable. The Internet was also cut off when the large rodent-made structure gave way on Monday evening along a highway 750 km northeast of Montreal. The cable was severed at a point where it crosses a river. The local health network was hit hard. Top4-Couple heading to court over custody of cat

MONTREAL — An estranged Montreal couple is clawing it out in court over custody of a cat named Miley. Her sentimental value is so great to Maria Melissa Criniti and Charles Desparois that Miley is the main sticking point in their breakup. "I find this action ridiculous, but I'm ready to learn how the justice system works to defend myself," Desparois, 28, told QMI Agency. Criniti also admits the case might seem crazy, but she says Miley is worth it. "I don't have children, but I have a cat," said the 23-year-old nursing assistant.
Desparois and Criniti moved into a trailer in Mirabel, Que., north of Montreal, in 2011. Court documents say it was Criniti who had brought Miley into the relationship. The pair broke up this year, and Criniti claims she was locked out of the trailer in August when she tried to retrieve the cat. Two weeks later, Desparois received a letter ordering him to hand over the cat within 48 hour

It is unclear whether the operator was laughing at the call or something else happening at the dispatch. "You're calling for help, you shouldn't be laughed at," Delgado said. "We did not perform as I expect or the citizens of this county expect us to," said Capt. Jim Berry. "We're going to correct that. Certainly I can understand why he was upset. I would be too."But they call this an "isolated incident." County dispatchers receiver more than 400,000 911 calls. They dispatch approximately 130,000.

Top2-Driving skeleton frightens drive-thru employees

Just in time for Halloween, self-described Internet magician-prankster Rahat has posted a new video where he shocks and scares fast food drive-thru employees with a car-driving skeleton. Disguised as the car seat, Rahat sits behind the plastic skeleton that is set up to look like it is driving the car. The reactions he gets range from pure terror to mirth. He even gets some free food thrown at him!

Top5-Thousands of people in UK claim to have 'other' sexual preferences

As many as 180,000 people in the UK have "other" sexual preferences that do not come under any traditional category. Out of every 100,000 people in the UK, 300 describe their sexual preferences not as straight, gay or bisexual but as "other", a poll has revealed. A large survey of more than 340,000 people found that 0.3% would consider their sexuality to fall into this category, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said. More than nine out of 10 (93.5%) people in the UK deem themselves to be heterosexual, according to the Integrated Household Survey from 2012.
The experimental data show that 1.1% of people would describe themselves as gay or lesbian and 0.4% consider themselves bisexual. Meanwhile 4.7% of respondents gave no response or said they did not know. The ONS said London had the highest proportion of adults who said they were gay, lesbian or bisexual and the East of England reported the lowest. The report also said that people aged 16 to 24 were more likely to identify themselves as gay, lesbian or bisexual, with 2.6% categorising themselves in this way compared with 0.4% of adults aged 65 and over
