Top 5-Restaurant bans tips

Sushi Yasuda in New York City has maintained an excellent reputation for more than a decade, and now the restaurant is making headlines for banning tips. All the restaurant's servers are now on salary with paid vacation and sick leave. The high-end restaurant only seats 45 guests and the chef’s menu can cost more than $100, so the owners aren't

worried about raising prices to make up for lack of tips. But customers have been confused since the policy went into effect earlier this year. Managers put a note in both
the menu and receipt explaining the no-tipping policy, but some diners continued to write a tip on their receipts even though there was no tip line. The restaurant eventually started circling the explanation on the receipt in red to draw the customer’s attention.

Top 4-Reported severed hand was a birthday prank prop

NOTTINGHAM, England, June 11 (UPI) -- British police said what looked like a severed hand discovered outside a residence was just a prank that hadn't been properly cleaned up. Nottinghamshire police said a forensic team was sent to a Nottingham, England, neighborhood Thursday after a report came in of a severed hand with one finger chopped off on a sidewalk, The Mirror reported Tuesday. However, police soon discovered the hand was a fake created by amateur make-up artist Patrick Plummer, 34, who makes props for theater groups. Plummer told police the hand was a prank to scare his niece for her 15th birthday party and had been left outside after it fulfilled its purpose and the party moved inside for cake. A Nottinghamshire police spokeswoman said police laughed off the incident.
"When officers arrived at the scene, a man, who was understandably red-faced, told us he was responsible for the practical joke," she said. "Instead of pointing the finger, we advised him about his actions. He promptly removed the hand and finger and apologized profusely."

NEW YORK, June 11 (UPI) -- Family members said a 75-year-old New York woman fought off a pair of attempted home invaders by whacking them with her house phone. The family said the men attempted to force themselves into the Queens home of Margaret Mazzio, 75, around 1:30 p.m. Monday, the New York Post reported Tuesday. Robyn Mazzio, the woman's daughter-in-law, said one of the men "started coming inside the house, and my mother-in-law laid into him with her house phone. She swung and hit him right in the head." "Then he lunged in at her like he was going to attack her, and my sister-in-law grabbed him by the arms and threw him out the door," she said. The men, who neighbors said may have been the same suspicious men recently seen walking up and down the street in FedEx vests, fled empty-handed.

Top 1-A Man raped neighbor to save her life

A 50-year-old man from St. George, Utah, is charged with first degree felony rape after he allegedly found his neighbor unconscious on her porch and told police he had sex with her to "save her life." When police arrived, responding to an unconscious person call, they said they found Rodger William Kelly inside his apartment giving the woman CPR.
The woman later told police she thought she might have been raped and recalled being dressed in a pair of the man’s underwear and shorts. She also informed police she had bruising on her pelvis and upper thighs.Kelly told officers that he found the woman passed out in front of her apartment and brought her inside his apartment and changed her clothes. He said he then lay down next to her, hugged her, and attempted intercourse to try to get her temperature up because she had been outside. Kelly claimed he inserted his penis inside the unconscious 29-year-old on May 19 because "he was trying to save her life," according to court documents.
"He said he did place it inside of her to try and get her temperature up," police wrote in a probable cause statement filed in 5th District Court. Kelly told police that the two had been intimate before, but claimed she told him before the incident that she didn’t want to have sex with him again. According to court documents, the hospital was unable to complete a rape kit because the woman’s vaginal area was cleaned while she was sedated.
