Couple spend just ONE POUND on their wedding

A couple proved a wedding does not need to cost a fortune after celebrating their nuptials for a quid. Artist Georgina Porteous, 36, and singer-songwriter Sid Innes, 39, asked guests to bring food for their picnic reception in a barn behind their home and the

minister offered his services for free. Georgina’s aunt baked the three-tier wedding cake and her dad Harry played jazz on his sax for dance music. They couldn’t avoid paying £70 for their licence but the only other expense was the bride’s £1 second-hand dress – a far cry from the average £20,000 wedding price tag. She said: “I don’t see the point in these massive weddings. We didn’t want or need a big, fancy affair. “We had a ball. The day went beautifully. People said it was the best wedding they have ever been to.” The couple, of Inverness, plan to spend more on their honeymoon in Berlin, where they got engaged.

Lucky-Family finds $300,000 worth of sunken treasure

A Florida family who spends their time together hunting for treasure struck it rich over the weekend, hauling up an estimated $300,000 worth of gold from an historic wreckage in the Atlantic Ocean. "What's really neat about them is they are a family, they spend family time together out there and the most amazing part about them is they always believed this day would come," said Brent Brisben, whose company 1715 Fleet - Queens Jewels LLC owns the rights to the wreckage. Brisben said Rick and Lisa Schmitt, and their grown children Hillary and Eric, found gold chains and coins from the wreckage of a convoy of 11 ships that went down in a hurricane off the coast of Florida in 1715 en route from Havana to Spain. The ships' manifests indicate that about $400 million worth of treasure was on board, of which $175 million has been recovered, Brisben said.

Man caught with marijuana plants in the front, pal in the trunk

Cops in Halifax stopped a suspicious car without its headlights on and found a load of pot plants in the front and rear seats, and the driver's buddy in the trunk. The Toyota was pulled over about 10 p.m. Sunday and police found the driver surrounded by 20 marijuana plants and his passenger in the trunk, "seemingly to make room for the marijuana in the front seat area" the RCMP said in a statement.  A 23-year-old man from Brookside, N.S., and a 24-year-old man from Hatchet Lake, N.S., each face charges of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and cultivation under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Man had Loaded Derringer Stashed In Butt

SEPTEMBER 3--A man had a loaded firearm hidden inside his rectum when he was booked into an Oklahoma jail this weekend, police report. Arrested on a minor charge Sunday morning, Mark Gregory Valadez was transported to an Oklahoma City jail, where he was only subjected to a pat-down search (and not made to go through a metal detector). As a result of the lax screening, investigators allege, Valadez, 33, got into the lockup with a Derringer pistol inside his body cavity. The concealed weapon, which contained a single round, is seen in an Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office evidence photo. Investigators learned that Valadez, who lives in Wichita, Kansas, was carrying after he blabbed to other inmates that he had smuggled a weapon into the jail. A cavity search of Valadez early yesterday morning--about 16 hours after he was incarcerated--yielded the loaded gun. The discovery also resulted in the filing of a felony charge accusing Valadez, seen in the above mug shot, of possessing contraband in a penal institution

Woman, 21, aspires to sleep with 100,000 men

I am Ania Lisewska -- a simple girl who wants to sleep with 100,000 men, nothing more.'
Some things just sound too good to be true. Like the Polish woman who apparently wants to get it on with 100,000 men.  "I want to travel the world because I love sex!" says a Facebook page apparently belonging to Ania Lisewska, 21. It has more than 16,000 "likes Lisewska, according to the Polish website Super Express, was to kick off her "sex marathon" earlier this month in Prague.  Blog posts on a website bearing her name seem to be chronicling the young woman's epic journey, but the story has been called into question because she's reportedly not yet responded to media interviews.
"I'm no superstar," an Aug. 16 post reads. "I am Ania Lisewska — a simple girl who wants to sleep with 100,000 men, nothing more." The credibility of her goal is also raising eyebrows — 20-minute romps with 100,000 men would take 33,333 consecutive hours, or 3.8 years, without taking a break.
