March. 24 (UPI) -- A British teen who was spending 10 hours a day taking selfies on his smartphone tried to commit suicide when he couldn’t take a perfect picture of himself. Danny Bowman, 19, was spending so much time taking selfies with his iPhone that he


dropped out of school and eventually tried to overdose on pills.  “I was constantly in search of taking the perfect selfie and when I realized I couldn’t I wanted to die. I lost my friends, my education, my health and almost my life,” Bowman told the Daily Mirror. “The only thing I cared about was having my phone with me so I could satisfy the urge to capture a picture of myself at any time of the day.” Bowman was taking up to 200 photos a day because he suffers from OCD and Body Dysmorphic Disorder

Cocaine-filled condoms intercepted en route to the Vatican

March. 24 (UPI) -- German customs officials discovered 14 cocaine-filled condoms in a package marked for delivery to the Vatican. The condoms contained 340 grams of liquid cocaine, valued at around $55,000. The parcel was addressed to the main postal center at the Vatican and was mailed from somewhere in South America. After German officials found out what was in the package, they attempted to set up a sting operation with the help of Vatican police to catch the intended recipient, but no one ever claimed the drug-filled piece of mail. According to the Independent, Vatican spokesman Rev. Federico Lombardi confirmed that German authorities and the Vatican police had attempted to entrap the recipient. Authorities believe that the person may have been tipped off about the sting.

British school bans red ink for teachers

Teachers at a British school are no longer allowed to use their dreaded red pens to mark students' work. Under a new grading policy at Mounts Bay Academy in Cornwall, teachers must mark and write feedback in green, while students must reply in purple. "Students make more progress if it is a dialogue and the new system is designed to help that," Headteacher Sara Davey told the Cornishman newspaper. "A lot of primary schools are already using a similar system amazingly well and I think it was felt that red ink was a very negative colour." The Campaign for Real Education, which says it fights for "higher standards and more parental choice in state education," has taken a stand against the policy. "The problem with using a colour like green or blue is that it's not clear," chair Chris McGovern said. "A lot of schools seem to have a culture where they don't like criticizing children but actually (red ink) helps them."

A Spanish man was electrocuted after climbing onto the roof of a train to take a SELFIE.The 21-year-old died in Andujar, Andalusia , at 12 noon Saturday after clambering on top of a haulage locomotive with a pal. The duo thought the train, parked in a siding

at the town's station, was not electrified. But its cables were in fact still connected and conducting a current. As he went to snap the photo with his mobile phone, the victim accidentally touched a high-voltage wire. The electric shock threw reportedly threw him from the train. His friend also suffered a severe electric shock, but survived. ABC reports that firefighters, police and paramedics rushed to the scene. The electricity supply between local stations was cut so the pair could be attended to. But it was too late, and the 21-year-old, from Vegas de Triana, was declared dead at the scene.His friend was taken to Alto Guadalquivir Hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.Andujar Mayor Jesus Estrella declared three days of official mourning in the town.

The New York Post reports that Delfin Lantigua was arrested on Thursday and charged with receiving a bribe, official misconduct and coercion for allegedly offering to expedite the hiring process for female recruits in exchange for sex, money and panties. Gambler wants 500K money back from casino

A  California man who lost $500,000 in 17 hours gambling at a Las Vegas casino was so drunk he could not remember the episode after waking up in his hotel room, said a lawsuit filed on his behalf that seeks to erase the debt. Mark Johnston, 52, arrived drunk at the Downtown Grand casino and was plied with free alcoholic drinks while he gambled, according to the suit filed Feb. 18 in Nevada state court for Clark County. After leaving the gaming tables, Johnston went to his hotel room and woke up the next day with no memory of his time at the tables, stated the lawsuit, depicting his mental state while gambling as a "blackout period."

Johnston's attorney, Sean Lyttle, described him as a self-made millionaire who previously owned a number of car dealerships and was involved in real estate development. Starting on the night of Jan. 30 and running into the next afternoon at the casino in downtown Las Vegas, a few miles from The Strip, Johnston played pai gow and blackjack for 17 hours and was served about 20 drinks, according to the lawsuit. Lyttle said he has never heard of a gambler in Las Vegas being allowed to lose such a large amount while intoxicated."Mr. Johnston, an experienced gambler, was dropping chips on the floor, confusing chip colors and slurring his speech badly, and he was unable to read his cards or set his hands properly," the lawsuit stated.

The mother, who isn’t being named to protect her daughter, held Addison Pittman at gunpoint until Sheriff's Deputies arrived. Although he told the daughter that he was only 17, she knew that he was 23 after meeting him on the social media website Kik five months prior. The girl was grounded and lost her cellphone and Internet privileges. Pittman was charged with 3rd degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and released on $15,000 bond. Rolston was caught on surveillance video posting the photos inside the store and she later admitted to distributing the pictures. According to Rolston, the affair had been doing on for a year. Citizens looking for information about Ohio's natural resources this week instead found a porn video called "Sexy Babe." The video, along with more porn, some music and "other non-official-looking files" were posted to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources website on Feb. 21, reports the Columbus Dispatch.The site uses FTP (file transfer protocol) to allow natural resources companies to transfer large files, like maps. But it has no security features and anyone can use it. "Someone was using it as cloud storage," department spokeswoman Eileen Corson told the paper. "Unfortunately, that happens."
